Fall in Virginia
I guess we are about half way done with fall in Virginia. The trees have been spectacular. I was very impatient at first...they didn't seem to be changing fast enough...but then...almost over night the trees changed and the mountains were beautiful.
One of the hard things to get used to is the colder temperatures. We have already had many mornings below the freezing mark...much earlier than we usually have them in Texas. It has been nice to wear sweaters and warm fall clothes though. I will need to buy a new coat though...soon it will be much too cold for my "Texas" bought winter coat!
One night early in the fall I had the windows open. The cats love it when the windows are open. They smell the air and watch everything extra close. It was dark and suddenly there was this strange noise. The cats rushed to the windows in interest. It was a flock of geese flying over. What a wonderful fall sound. I live near the Rivanna River which is home to many wild creatures. Hearing the geese fly over has become a common occurance!
I think the most disappointing part of Virginia has been my job. I am miserable to say the least. I am not sure what exactly it is...high school atmosphere, the kids, or the administration...but it is horrible. Currently I am looking for a new job. I have applied for an administrative assistant position...I am hoping (fingers crossed) that I will get it and be able to leave this job.
I am getting ready to spend my first holiday on my own. Well...I will be with friends...but this will be the first holiday in which I am not with my family. I have mixed feelings about it...excited about doing it for the first time and sad because I am so far away.
Well...I guess that is all for now. I hope to start writing again...I have been slacking for entirely too long!!!
